Lake Maggiore the second largest lake in the Italy is situated at the foot of the Italian Alps. The lake which is surrounded by rolling hills and majestic mountains which help create a Mediterranean style climate which lasts all year round producing lush Mediterranean vegetation. Indeed Maggiore is renowned for its gardens like those at Isola Madre, Isola di Brissago and at the Villa Teranto. Stresa, our base for this holiday provides an idea base to explore this beautiful region of Italy and nearby Switzerland.

Itinerary
Day 1: Outward journey via Eurotunnel to Reims for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Continue to Lake Maggiore and spend 6 nights at the Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac Stresa.
Day 3: Day of leisure.
Day 4: A full day excursion to the city of Milan with its numerous attractions including the cathedral, Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, La Scala opera house and Castello Sforzesco.
Day 5: Enjoy a full day scenic excursion to Lake Orta which lies to the west of Lake Maggiore. Lake Orta, the smallest of the Italian Lakes is renowned for the beauty of its landscape and for its Romanesque and Baroque Architecture. After a short stop in Pettenasco we return to Lake Maggiore and to our hotel.
Day 6: Lugano is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland. With its mild climate there are sub tropical plants by the lakeside promenade. Lugano is a mix of Swiss efficiency, Mediterranean atmosphere and Italian culture.
Day 7: Day of leisure
Day 8: After an early breakfast, we bid farewell to Lake Maggiore and make our way homeward, stopping in Reims for one last night.
Day 9: After an early breakfast, continue via Eurotunnel, arriving home early evening.
