Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk is situated on the estuary of the River Orwell close to Felixstowe, Needham Market in Suffolk and Colchester in Essex. This vibrant town mixes the modern with the old, visitors can wander along the historic and medieval streets complete with fine buildings and churches including the Holy Trinity and St Mary at Stoke Church. For those who enjoy a more laid back and leisurely approach sit back and relax in one of the many bars and restaurants which now line the historic waterfront with its quayside and moored yachts and cruisers.

Itinerary
Day 1: Leisurely outward journey to Suffolk spending four nights at the Belstead Brook Hotel arriving late afternoon.
Day 2: Day of leisure in Suffolk
Day 3: Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk Villages. The beautiful town of Bury St Edmunds is full of historic streets, interesting shops and places to visit, market day is on Wednesday. After time in the town we take a leisurely drive through some of Suffolk’s pretty villages to view the region’s distinctive architecture.
Day 4: Colchester & Constable Country. Colchester lays claim to being England’s oldest town and its historic town centre is well worth exploring. Continue to the Stour Estuary for a visit to Bridge Cottage, where John Constable painted some of his most famous works.
Day 5: Depart after breakfast for the homeward journey arriving late afternoon.
