Itinerary
Day 1: Leisurely outward journey to the Lake District spending four nights at the Hydro Hotel arriving early afternoon.
Day 2: Full day The Northern Lakes. Travel to Grasmere, with perhaps a call in at the famous gingerbread shop. Next stop is the pretty Lakeland town of Keswick beside peaceful Derwentwater. We then take a look at Bassenthwaite Lake before returning via Ullswater.
Day 3: Day of leisure in Windermere
Day 4: Full day The Southern Lakes. We first visit historic Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel, with its cobbled streets, home to a market on Thursdays. We then travel along Coniston Water to the town of Coniston and return via Ambleside.
Day 5: Depart after breakfast for the homeward journey arriving late afternoon.
