It is the terminus for the West  Highland Railway and the ferry services to the Isle of Skye and to the Four Isles of Canna, Rum, Eigg and Muck. A ferry service also links Inverie which is situated on the Southern side of the Knoydart Peninsula and which is reputed to be the only village in Scotland with no links to the road network. As well as being a working port and bustling transport terminal, Mallaig is the ideal location from which to explore this stunningly beautiful area.

Itinerary

Day 1: Leisurely outward journey to Mallaig spending four nights at the Morar Hotel arriving late afternoon.
Day 2: Full day Over The Sea To Skye. We cross the beautiful Sound of Sleat by ferry to Skye, following the same route as Bonnie Prince Charlie! We’ll then explore the Cuillin Hills and the island’s main town of Portree before crossing back to Mallaig. Scenery all the way!
Day 3: Day of leisure in Mallaig.
Day 4: Full day The Ardnamurchan Peninsula. A trip into the wild! Travel through Moidart, passing the atmospheric ruins of Castle  Tioram, then onto the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula, a wildlife paradise.
Day 5: Depart after breakfast for the homeward journey arriving early evening.
